Originating from a small textile shop in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, Afri Nuts’ remarkable journey into the cashew industry began with an unexpected turn of events in 1979. It was then that the manager of a neighboring cashew shop approached Mr. Alibhai, seeking a favor to sell their leftover stock. To their surprise, this entire inventory sold out within a single day, instantly transforming cashews into an integral chapter of the Alibhai Store’s story.

Since that pivotal moment, the company, now known as Afri Nuts, has consistently expanded its operations by strategically adding value to its cashew offerings. In the last decade, Afri Nuts has further diversified its product range by importing a wide array of fresh dry fruits and nuts from different countries across the globe. Today, Afri Nuts is proud to work with over 300 small-scale farmers, predominantly women, across the Makonde Plateau, to ethically source the finest quality cashews Tanzania has to offer, embodying a legacy of adaptability, astute market insight, and a profound commitment to delivering premium products and supporting local communities.
